Public Safety and Emergency Services Committee
The functions of the Statutory Committee on Public Safety and Emergency Services shall, but not by way of limitation, include the following:
a) To exercise legislative oversight for compliance with legislative intent on all County government departments, agencies and units as well as advisory citizen boards and commissions rendering protective and educational services for the well-being or convenience of the County and its residents, including the Office of the District Attorney, Office of the Sheriff, Department of Probation, Office of Emergency Services and Arson Task Force.
b) To exercise legislative oversight on all contracts between the above offices, agencies, units, boards, commissions, committees, associations, etc., and any person, institution, or unit of government.
c) To initiate and recommend legislative policy including provisions for compliance through legislative oversight for all protective or custodial services performed by the County government or for the County by other local jurisdictions within the County.
d) To advise upon and initiate action required of the Legislature concerning the relationship of County government to agencies administering criminal justice.
e) To initiate and recommend legislative policy including provisions for compliance through legislative oversight on activities concerning educational programs and services sponsored by the County government or supported by County funds.
f) To recommend legislative policy toward other jurisdictions providing the foregoing services, and oversee legislative intent thereon.
